I mentioned a while ago that Apple had come out with new Mac Pros. Well mine finally arrived after a 6 week wait. It's awesome. Here are some photos of the unpacking process. I bumped up the RAM, added some more hard drives and now it really flies. I've tested out ripping some dvds using HandBrake, and it's very quick. Gaming under Windows is pretty nice too, thanks to the Geforce 8800GT, although I don't know of any games that would use all 8 cores. Still, the dual Xeons blows my old Pentium 4 out of the water. UT3 runs nice and smooth at the highest settings (1680x1050). I'm planning on installing Crysis and checking out the performance - just for laughs.

Check out this video. It's a pretty simple idea, but it looks amazing. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this sort of technology ended up becoming standard video game fare.
